Quail Trail 5K Run

Quail Trail a Success!

Over 150 runners turned out for the Open event, which began at 8am.  The cross-country type course provided the early morning athletes a challenging run and a scenic view.

Stephen Cox of Tallahassee was the overall male winner.  Douglas Covert took top male honors in the Master’s division.  Nancy Stedman, also from Tallahassee, the overall female winner, said, “I don’t normally win races, so this means a lot to me.”  Julie Clark was the first female in the Master’s division.

The athletes weren’t the only ones running during the early morning race.  Frank McLeod of Fitzgerald was startled mid-run by a large deer darting directly in front of him.  Dyann Howell of Bainbridge commented, “The course was fabulous.  It was a really good turn-out and a powerful cause.”

Proceeds from the race benefit the new Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center, and are matched dollar for dollar by the Adrian and Jesse Archbold Charitable Trust.

QT 5k race results have been posted and are available here.
