WhitneyWhitney White Promoted to Main House Museum Manager

The Pebble Hill Foundation Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the promotion of Whitney White to Main House Museum Manager effective July 1. White has been employed at Pebble Hill since 1995, where she has achieved increasing levels of responsibility. For the last few years, she has served as Rentals Manager. In that capacity she handled all wedding-related and other private events held at the plantation. As Main House Museum Manager, White will be responsible for management of the Main House and plantation tours.  She will continue to be involved with the rental events in a managerial capacity. White is a graduate of Brookwood School.  She received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Berry College in Rome, Georgia and a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Thomas University.

Pebble Hill Plantation was developed into a prime 20th century shooting plantation by the Hanna family of Cleveland, Ohio.  Elisabeth Ireland Poe, a Hanna granddaughter and the last family member to own the property, willed that the plantation become a museum at her death.  Pebble Hill has been open to the public since 1983.

Wallace Goodman, Pebble Hill Director, announced the selection of White on Friday and the retirement of Barbara Cohenour, Main House Museum Manager the past 3 ¾ years.  Goodman said, “I am pleased to be able to work with a person of White’s knowledge and experience at Pebble Hill Plantation.”  He continued, “We will miss Barbara as she retires and wish her every happiness as she begins the next phase of her life.”
