2011 Family & Friends Event is Huge Success
Pebble Hill welcomed 970 guests last Sunday, October 16th, for the Family and Friends event. The weather was beautiful and perfect for strolling around Pebble Hill. Rich Curtis, TU Art professor, refused to be “stumped” by drawing everything requested in 2 minutes or less. Rich even stayed for a 20 minute encore. Andy Offut Irwin delighted everyone - the youngest members of the audience to the oldest. Luree Magee whipped out a few of her favorite chainsaws and turned some good PHP pine into a bear, a horse, and a bear bench. Pebble Hill’s favorite emcee Don Sims was on hand to keep things running smoothly.
The main house was open for all to view and our beautiful black Percherons were out making friends and garnering pats on their noses. Kids played “Bucket Brigade” while learning about the PHP disastrous 1934 fire and how the plantation’s chemical fire engine worked. The crafts attracted many children, so turkey hats and horse fans were seen all across the plantation. Our newly restored carriages also made their debut. Attention to a myriad of details by everyone at Pebble Hill guaranteed a perfect, successful afternoon.
All the Pebble Hill staff wish to extend a hearty thank you to attendees of the first Family & Friends event. Mark your calendars for next year's Family & Friends event happening on October 13, 2012. See you then.
